1. Start with one clear promise
Write one short sentence that tells a visitor exactly what you do and who you help. Put it at the very top of the page where people land.
Example: "Same-day HVAC repairs for homeowners in Springfield." or "Fast bookkeeping for small restaurants."
How to write it: use this formula — [Service] for [Who] with [Key benefit]. Keep it under 10 words if possible.
2. Add a single, obvious call-to-action (CTA)
Use one main action you want visitors to take: call you. Make the phone number a big button and repeat it in two places: the header and near the top of the page.
CTA examples: Call now: (555) 123-4567 or Speak to a technician — (555) 123-4567. Use click-to-call on mobile.
3. Make the top of the page scannable (30-second check)
People decide fast. Make the top 600 pixels show these items in order:
- Headline (your one promise)
- Subheadline (1 sentence with one extra benefit)
- Primary CTA (phone button)
- Trust signal (badge, years, or a short testimonial)
If a visitor sees those four things in 30 seconds, they’ll know what you do and how to call.
4. Use proof that lowers risk
People call when they believe you’ll solve their problem. Add proof like:
- Real photos (your team, van, office) — not stock images
- Short testimonials (1–2 lines) with name and town
- Numbers: jobs completed, years in business, average response time
- Badges: licenses, insurance, BBB rating
Example testimonial: “Fixed our furnace same day — very professional. — Maria, Oakwood.”
5. Answer the big questions quickly
Visitors want to know: Can you help me? How fast? How much? Keep answers short and visible.
- Can you help? — List main services in bullets.
- How fast? — State response time: "Same-day visits" or "Emergency service 24/7."
- How much? — Give price ranges or starting prices: "Repairs from $89."
6. Use simple sections that guide to a call
Organize the page into clear sections with short headings. Order example:
- Top promise + CTA
- Services (3–6 bullets)
- Why choose us (3 short reasons)
- Proof (testimonials, numbers, badges)
- How it works (3-step process)
- Final CTA (phone button and hours)
7. Write like a person — not a brochure
Use short sentences, plain words, and talk to one person. Replace long phrases with simple ones.
Before: "Our company provides comprehensive plumbing solutions throughout the metropolitan area."
After: "We fix leaks, clear drains, and install water heaters in Springfield."
8. Add a fast 3-step 'how it works' to reduce doubts
People call when the process feels simple. Put a 3-step list near the CTA:
- Call us or click to call
- We confirm time and price estimate
- Technician arrives and fixes it
9. Use a simple decision rule for visuals
Rule: If an image doesn’t answer the question "Who are you and what do you do?" remove it. Replace with a photo of your team, truck, or work result.
10. Make the phone number visible on every page
Header: clickable phone button.
Footer: phone + hours and service area.
Pop-up or sticky bar: optional on mobile only (set to show after 5–8 seconds).
11. Test three things and keep the winner
Simple tests you can run in a month:
- CTA text: "Call now" vs "Get a quote" — track calls per week
- Headline version A vs B — measure calls and clicks
- Top image: team photo vs service photo — which gets more clicks?
12. Quick checklist before you publish
- Headline tells what you do and who you help
- Phone number is a clear, clickable CTA in header and top
- Top area shows a trust signal
- Services, speed, and price range are visible
- Three-step process is listed near CTA
- At least two genuine testimonials with names
- Real photos of people, team, or work
- Phone number in footer + business hours
13. Sample homepage top (copy you can paste)
Headline: "Same-day AC repair for Springfield homes"
Subheadline: "We arrive within 4 hours or your service is free."
CTA button: "Call now: (555) 123-4567"
Trust line: "Served 5,000+ homes • Licensed & insured"
14. Keep improving, but stay focused
Measure calls and ask callers how they found you. If a change reduces calls, revert it. Small, steady improvements beat big rewrites.
Resources checklist (copy-and-use)
- Headline formula: [Service] for [Who] with [Benefit]
- 3-step process template: Call → Confirm → Fix
- CTA text options: "Call now", "Speak to a technician", "Schedule a same-day visit"
